Simbangoma celebrates black lives

Globally, nations can’t have enough conversations matters inclusivity and equal access to information and opportunity.

Over the near past years, thanks to the internet, we have seen a rise in cases of police brutally killing black civilians, especially in western countries. This saw to the rise of #BlackLivesMatter movement, that seeks to address discrimination, racism and racial inequality, that black people experience.

When is your last memory of racial discrimination as a black person? Or any memory of white supremacy against the men and women of colour? Rings fresh in your mind? If no, then, unless as a community, we do something about it, it will come knocking at your door, in the dark of the night, when you are least prepared for it.

As a black person, you matter, your voice counts, and your story deserves an ear. You are entitled to the same opportunities and rights as any human, regardless of your origin, colour or affiliations. We need to continually resist the consistent harassment of black people, and hold the people and systems in question, responsible.

We deserve to enjoy equality at the workplace and protection against at form of discrimination. Anything less of that should be amplified.https://simbangoma.com/guernsey-celebrates-equality-diversity-inclusion/

As a sign of solidarity to the men of colour, spiced by the hunger to empower them economically, as they establish themselves in the Island, we have platforms where we interact with, advertise available job vacancies in various sectors, empower and encourage the men and women of colour.

This is a safe space for not only Kenyans, but also other African newbies in Guernsey, trying to wrap themselves around the way of life of the Islanders, how to navigate through life economically & socially as well as find a community to belong. It also unites friends of men and women of colour, who are thrilled by our way of life, culture, food and history.
